
SomaPsyche & Movement Coaching
So much of what drives our behaviour and how we engage with the world is run by our nervous system (NS). Our NS is the fundamental system in our body that keeps things ticking over. It influences all other systems in the body, and it is constantly responding to all aspects of our internal and external environment. When we look at our behaviours and reactions through the lens of the NS, we open up a wonderful new understanding of our automated responses which dictate our moods, energy levels, physiological experiences, ailments, relationships, health, vitality and more!

SomaPsyche & Movement Coaching brings together over 30 years of combined training and experience in clinical psychology, rehabilitative Pilates and Somatics. Drawing from the work of Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal theory, I focus on supporting your nervous system to better regulate, create safety, and build resilience & capacity through: sensory input such as sound, vibration, movement, tactile practices, and breathe work; psychological strategies such as defusion from thoughts, visualisation, and acceptance; practices to increase interoception (sensing internal signals from the body); practices to increase proprioception (the awareness of the body in space); and postural work. Supporting the nervous system in this way enables us to respond to our world and interact within our relationships, through the lens of safety rather than threat. This positively impacts the functioning of all other systems in our body – think immune system, endocrine system, cardiac system, digestive system and more!

​These specialised and unique coaching sessions bring together over 30 years of combined training and experience in clinical psychology, rehabilitative Pilates and Somatics. Held in my home studio in Howrah, Tasmania, I provide an individualised engagement that might include talking, stretching, postural work, movement, breathwork, self-massage, eye movements, somatic orienting, mindfulness, vocalisations, and much more.
